A conscious step towards zero waste and Green School Initiative
On 25 April 2025, Vishwakarma Public School hosted the R2E (Recycling 2 Education) Workshop under The Notebook Project अपशिष्ट पुनः चक्रण से साकार, शिक्षा का उपहार, an initiative led by अथक् प्रयास सतत् विकास. Organized as part of the Green School Initiative, the workshop combined the goals of environmental sustainability with educational development—transforming the way students and schools view waste, learning, and community responsibility.
A Zero-Waste Vision in Action

The event focused on developing a zero-waste model within the school ecosystem by fostering practices of recycling, reuse, and sustainable living. Students were invited to bring in paper scrap, which was exchanged for writing supplies—an effort that turned waste into a tool for learning. This hands-on initiative encouraged the school community to think differently about consumption and sparked meaningful conversations about waste reduction and environmental responsibility.
Nurturing Skills Beyond the Screen

The workshop also emphasized the importance of reducing screen time for students and promoting handwriting practice—a key element in improving focus, creativity, and cognitive development. By providing writing aids to students, the workshop supported academic readiness while nurturing essential offline skills often overshadowed in the digital era.
Celebrating Participation and Collaboration

The enthusiasm of the students was matched by the unwavering support of the school’s faculty. All participating students were recognized for their efforts, receiving appreciation and rewards for their contribution. A special acknowledgement goes to the teacher coordinators of VPS, whose seamless collaboration and commitment ensured the workshop’s smooth execution and meaningful impact.
Conclusion: A Path Forward for Green Education

The R2E Workshop at Vishwakarma Public School was more than a one-day event—it was a powerful demonstration of how sustainability can be embedded into education. By engaging young minds in recycling and handwriting practice, the initiative planted seeds of environmental responsibility and creative expression.
